Intellectual property rights are like any other property right. Hence, it is crucial to protect Intellectual Property Rights so that recognition and appreciation can reach the creators, in turn, encourage the spirit of discovery and innovation. With this in mind, the Department of Commerce has taken the initiative to organize a seminar on Intellectual Property Rights on the 13th of September, 2022, to make the I and II year B.Com students aware of the intangible creations of the human intellect.

Dr Nisha Joseph initiated the class, organized in the Seminar Hall and introduced the resource person Dr Geethika G, Assistant Professor of Political Science, U.C.College, Aluva. She holds her doctoral degree in IPR. The resource person defined intellectual property rights as rights given to individuals over the creations of their minds and further explained the jargon associated with it. IPR provide the creator with an exclusive right over the use of their work for a certain period. Dr Geethika’s class was informative and packed with her life experiences. The session was enlightening for the students as well as for the teachers.
