The department of biotechnology of Al Ameen College Edathala organized a blood donation drive in association with Indian Medical Association Cochin, on 27th July 2022. The purpose of the camp was to raise  public awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and express gratitude to voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving contributions. The camp began at 9. 30 am where the doctors and staff of IMA Cochin were given a formal welcome by Dr. Cini Kurian , Principal and Ms. Rahimol Ramesh , Head of the Department. About 77 volunteers came forward to donate blood during the camp which included teaching and non-teaching staff, students and non student donors. However due to haemoglobin, pressure and other medical conditions, some of them could not donate. At the end, 44 units of blood was collected. The blood donors were given refreshments after donating the blood.The blood donors were provided with a blood donation certificate card by IMA. The camp concluded at around 1. 00 pm. The Department of Biotechnology held its initial blood donation camp here, and it plans to hold more beneficial camps like these in the future.The blood donation camp was coordinated by Ms. Chinnu P S and Ms. Sanooja M S. They were assisted by Ms. Rahimol Ramesh Ms. Alphy Nisa Stephen Ms. Remisha Ramesh, Ms. Nazla K. A and the student coordinator Abiya Biju.
