The Department of Economics has conducted a one-day expert talk on ECONOMIC SYSTEMS AND INDIAN ECONOMY: FUTURE PROSPECTUS OF ECONOMICS for first-year students on October 26, 2022, in the Seminar Hall. Dr.Siby Abraham,HoD, Department of Economics, SH College, Thevara, was the resource person. The aim of this seminar was to enlighten students about the Indian economy, the problems faced by our economy, their solutions, and the role of the Government in improving our economic status. The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Shaniba MH, Head of Department. She also shared her views on the present Indian economy. Dr.Siby Abraham stated that the Indian economy is the seventh largest economy in the world, and our target is to make it the third largest economy. He said that our economy is growing at a rate of 6-7 percent, and the aim is to reach 9 percent by 2020–25. He also discussed the various challenges and potentials of the economy. It was an effective platform for first-year students to introspect and examine the numerous prospects and challenges facing the Indian economy. It was followed by an interactive session answering the student’s queries. The session was widely acceptable and highly praised by everyone.
