NSS volunteers of Al-Ameen College, Edathala celebrated International Yoga Day on 21-06-2016. The NSS programme officer Prof. Abdul Salam welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Anita Nair, principal, Al-Ameen college .The yoga session was handled by Yoga expert Nimmy M Menon who explained about the importance of yoga to the the volunteers. She said that Yoga was a spiritual discipline uniting body, mind and soul and was a way to give exercise to our bodies, our breath, and our minds. She also reminded the volunteers that yoga reduced blood pressure, helped to reduce back pain, and it provided positive intervention for cancer patients, providing them exercises that help to give them more positive outlooks and reduce anxieties that cause them sleep-loss and nervousness. She illustrated various asanas for curing various problems like migraine, back pain etc.
