As a part of national science day, department of biotechnology in association with Indian Science Congress Association, conducted a two day programme which included a science exhibition named Acadexpo 2022 and a one day online training workshop on Mendeley ; the reference data management software for research. The programme was conducted in two days.

The science exhibition named Acadexpo 2022 was conducted on 4 march 2022. The major objective of the science exhibition was to promote interest among students in the field of science and technology. Ms. Alphy Nisa Stephen was the coordinator of the programme. The science exhibition started at 10. 00 am and was inaugurated by Edathala Panchayath president Ms. Preeja Kunjumon. Apart from science exhibition there was also an Art exhibition which displayed the art works of our students. The art exhibition was inaugurated at 11.00 am by the senior faculties Ms. Beenatries Joy and Ms Vijaya Gopinath. The exhibition was open for visiting from 10 am to 2 pm for the students and teachers of the college. In the exhibition there was an organized presentation of the specimens related to human anatomy and prenatal developmental stages. The students also displayed certain models of human physiology. Some of the students presented the experimental setups that is used in advanced science. 958 students and the faculties from the various departments visited the exhibition. From 2.00 pm ownwards, the exhibition was open for school students. It was inaugurated in honour of Sir C V Raman by a student costumed as Sir C V Raman presenting “C V Raman: a Biography” to the principal of the Govt. High school, Nochima.  About 498 students from both Al Ameen Public school Edathala and Govt. High school Nochima attended the exhibition. We received positive feedbacks from everyone who visited the exhibition. The exhibition was a complete success with high praise from the students. The hardwork and effort made by the entire department especially the coordiantor Ms. Alphy Nisa Stephen and student coordinators were praiseworthy. The exhibition concluded at 4.00 pm. The exhibition was a great success and surely it accomplished the objective for which it was conducted.

On the second day of the programme was one day online training workshop on Mendeley: The reference data management software for research. Ms.Vineetha Davies V,librarian , St. Aloysius College, Thrissur was the resource person. The programme started at 10.00 am. Ms. Rahimol Ramesh, Head of the department delivered the welcome speech. The session was inaugurated with the warm words of Dr. Cini Kurian, Principal of Al ameen college, Edathala. Ms Vineetha Davies provided a detailed description about the software Mendeley. She explained about creating a Mendeley account and about Mendeley installation and setup. The students learned how to utilise Mendeley to build references, how to input citations and make a reference list in Word, and how to collaborate with colleagues and use Mendeley’s social networking tools. Perfect guidelines about the Mendeley seemed to be a refreshing experience for the students. For research students, the session was quite informative. The session was effective in solving the queries of the students regarding reference data management software. The session concluded around 12.00 pm. Ms. Alphy Nisa Stephen, Assistant professor of the department expressed her words of gratitude.
