22 December 2016- Association Inauguration and National Mathematics Day Celebrations. Department of Mathematics Association activities for the academic year 2016- 2017 was inaugurated on 22/12/2016 by Prof Eldo Varghese (Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, U. C. College, Aluva). The guest of the day also gave a lecture on the topic “Linear Algebra”. December 22 is also the National Mathematics day and so a puzzle solving competition was also held for the students of our college. This was conducted in two rounds where in the preliminary round. the students were given a set of puzzles to solve. The topthree teams entered the final round where they were given tangram pieces to form a square.The morning session was followed by the screening of two short films demonstrating the usage of some simple yet powerful concepts in mathematics in our everyday life.
