Department of Economics conducted an orientation programme for civil service aspirants – Be Determined on 08/12/2023 in Seminar Hall. The objective of the programme is to help students to get a better understanding of the UPSC exam and the strategies they need to adopt to prepare for it. The expected outcomes of the program are to increase interest in pursuing a career in civil services and to boost  self-esteem. Mr. Abdul Vahid A A, Academic Head, Elegant IAS Academy was the resource person. The session started with a warm welcome by Dr.Shaniba MH, Head of Department. She provided participants with an overview of the post-graduation courses available for Economics students, emphasizing the various entrance examinations and offering guidance on how to prepare for them effectively. In present environment of multiple options, knowing about the available choices and their decision-making process is very important. During the orientation program, the students have been provided with information about the exam pattern, syllabus, and marking scheme of the UPSC exam. It was followed by an interactive session, answering the queries from the students. 112 students from various departments have attended the session. The career counselling and guidance for competitive examinations offered by the department has helped students set realistic expectations by helping them map their interest with the right career path to some extent, as a greater number of students are now opting to go for civil service.
