The Department of Mathematics celebrated Math Day and the inauguration of the association on January 24, 2024. The primary goal of the event was to highlight the importance of mathematics for the upcoming generation. Various interdepartmental competitions were organized by the department as part of the celebration. Six teachers and students from the Department of Mathematics participated in the program.
The association inauguration and logo unveiling took place on January 24 at 1:00 PM in the seminar hall. The Chief Guest for the event was Jose Mathew, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Deva Matha College, Kuravilangad.
The program was compared by Afra, a first-year MSc Mathematics student, and began with a welcome speech by Simi, also a first-year MSc Mathematics student. Dr. Vinitha, Head of the Department of Mathematics, felicitated the participants, followed by a talk by the Principal, Dr. Cini Kurian, on the importance of mathematics. The association was inaugurated with the logo unveiling by Jose Mathew, who also released the first question of the day. The Principal presented mementos to Dr. Fathima Perveen and Dr. Athira in recognition of their completion of PhD programs in the past year. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the games.
The event featured a lecture by Chief Guest Jose Mathew on the topic “Paradoxes of Mathematics,” which was highly engaging. The program concluded at 3:30 PM with a vote of thanks delivered by Safvana, a second-year MSc Mathematics student.
