A seminar on Wavelet Regularization in Quantum Field Theory was conducted b the Physics department Al-Ameen college on 16 th August 2022.The seminar started at 11: 00 am. Head of the Department of Physics  Mrs. Hiba Rahman welcomed the eminent resource person Dr. M. Altaisky and the gathered students  and faculty.

The Speaker elaborated on how in Quantum Field Theory(QFT), the amplitude computed from the Feynman diagrams are divergent. People usually use regularization and renormalization tricks to resolve this divergence. Prof M. V. Altaisky discussed on how to resolve the divergence using wavelet transform methods.

His team’s findings demonstrate that no physical quantity can be measured sharp in a point but can be measured in a region. The incorporation of resolution of measurement into the definition of fields can be done by inputting continuous wavelet transform instead of the obvious Fourier transforms in QFT which results in a theory free of divergence by construction.

In the talk, he presented the results of the Euclidean wavelet QED model and QCD. After the talk students could exchange their perspectives on theoretical research in the context of international scenario.

The seminar was concluded around 12.30pm. Ms. Sumayya, from  MSc Physics proposed vote of thanks.
