The nature club of Al Ameen College organized a seminar on “Wetland for a sustainable urban future” in connection with the World Wetland Day with the sponsorship of Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) on 1-02-2018. The main focus of the seminar was to create awareness about the conservation of wetlands and its importance in the coming decades. Dr. N C Induchoodan, Rtd DFO, inaugurated the function and delivered the keynote address. In the first session Dr Induchoodan delivered a speech on the topic “Socio economic aspects and environmental issues as well as our traditional concept of Environment protection”. The talk motivated the audience regarding the conservation of wetlands in current scenario and its importance in the coming generation. In the next session, Dr Sreeja Nishanth, Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad, gave a class on “Pros and cons of destruction of mangroves and necessities of preserving Wetland Ecosystems”. In this session the discussion was based on mangroves and its importance.
