Onam is a time to demonstrate Kerala’s vast cultural heritage. It is celebrated by all malayalees with much vigour than any other festival. So even amidst Corona, the Department of B.Com CA organised a variety of online programs for students, teachers, and families as well as the staff of Al-Ameen.

The ROYAL ONAM was celebrated from 22nd August (Atham) to 2nd September (chathayam) amidst great cheer. The cultural extravaganza witnessed huge participation as never seen before in Bcom CA. The department organised various programs at five levels under the title “NALAONAM NALLONAM”.  All the programs were coordinated by our faculty members Dr. Mary Kurian (HOD), Mrs. Rakhi Gopalakrishnan, Mr. Midlaj K S, Mrs. Aswathy V S, and the students’ representatives of the department. The various levels of events and the winners are given below:

Level 1 : Intercollegiate E – pookkalam drawing completion

Winner :  Ms Megha Jones, St Peter’s College, Kolenchery

Level 2 : Inter family E – onappattu competition

Winner :  Sahala PA, D2 Bcom CA

Level 3 : Inter class Onam competition

Level 5 : Intra dept Royal Onam

Intra dept  Royal e-onam of Bcom was conducted on 26th August 2020. The program was   inaugurated by Dr. Mary P U, Head of the Department and followed by a welcome note  by Assistant Professor Midlaj KS. The cultural programs got underway after the inauguration at 10.30. The programmes included :

  • Onapallavi : E – song
  • Onathallu : E – Debate
  • Onakoottu : E – Pachakam
  • Onakatha : Sharing of onam stories
  • Onachollu : Sharing of onam sayings
  • Onappokkal : Theme
  • Onasallapam : Sharing memories of onam

The celebration reached its helm with e-Debate in the topic ‘Feasibility of Online Classes’.  The ‘onathallu’ contest took place among the students and the event was a grand success, as the students argued with each other to establish their arguments and everyone enjoyed the event with great enthusiasm. Ms Farzeena of D2 Bcom was selected as ‘Star of the Day’.

The Program was successful and complete because of immense support from Dr Cini Kurian, the Principal, the Heads of various the Departments, and all the teaching and non- teaching staff of Alameen.
