Onam – A festival of togetherness, homecoming, celebration and fun. ‘Theithaka 2022’ Onam celebration of students of Al-Ameen College, Edathala was held on September 1, 2022. The programme was  inaugurated by Dr. Cini Kurien, our beloved principal.

The programme started at 10.00 am with the most special event of the day, Mega Thiruvathira, which was the main highlight of the celebration. Various competitions were held as part of the celebration and students from all the departments actively participated in the events with much joy, energy and togetherness.

The most interesting flower carpet competition took place in various venues inside the college premises. As part of the competition the students of various departments designed 11 colourful flower carpets. Onam Song competition, which is an inevitable part of the Onam celebrations was also conducted in the college auditorium and students participated in the event as groups.

This was followed by the Malayali Manga and Malayali Sreeman competition, held in the college auditorium, where participants were judged based on their communication skill in Malayalam, traditional Kerala attire, stage presence and grace in carrying the best tradition and culture of Kerala. Also, interesting and enthusiastic competitions like Uriyadi, Kaserakali and Thengachirakal were also conducted as part of the celebrations. The competitions ended with the much-awaited event of the celebration – Tug of War, that created much excitement and entertainment for    the players as well as the audience.

Also, Onam Sadhya was arranged by all the departments for the students, faculty and staff. The valedictory function was held at 4.00 pm at the open stage of college where prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions. All the students took part in the celebration and the whole event turned out to be a successful and a memorable one with the support of our management, principal, all the faculty members and staff of the college.

Fun filled celebrations, colourful Pookkalam, beautiful Onam songs, delicious Ona Sadhya and energetic Onam games – ‘Theithaka 2022’ was an event to remember for Al Ameen college.
