The Department of Chemistry conducted a poster exhibition in connection with the Mole Day celebration on 26th October 2023. A seminar on the topic “Importance of Chemistry in Everyday Life” was also arranged on the same day by our first-year B.Sc. Chemistry students. The session was handled by Sreya P A, Fidha Kunjumuhammed U K, Fathima Beevi and our head of the department Dr Leji Latheef chair the session. The programme was organized to cognisant the students of the importance of mole concept in chemistry and the relevance of the international celebration on mole day by scientific/ chemistry community. Students prepared posters based on the mole concept. Poster exhibition was conducted in the first-year class room. This programme gave awareness of the significance of the Avogadro number and mole concept to the students of our department and others also. In the afternoon, three of our first-year U G students took a class based on the importance of chemistry in our day to day life. 78 students and staff attended the session. The talk was very interesting and all the students were enlightened by the programme and were aware of how chemicals/chemistry affect our daily life. Finally, the session was open for a mass discussion about the relevance of chemistry in the current scenario and the students clarified their doubts.
