It is the declared motto of Al Ameen College, Edathala, Aluva to “cultivate a spirit of community service and to inculcate civic sense and social responsibility”. True to this spirit, Computer Science Department of the college under the inspiring leadership of its head Dr. Cini Kurian organized Hands on Workshop on information technology for specially abled persons in association with Kerala Council for Science, technology and Environment. Over 20 people with computer awareness and are incapacitated due to various reasons were identified with the help of “Thanal”- an organization for the differently abled people. These people were invited to the View Gallery
college for the hands on workshop. The aim of the workshop was to make these people employable by providing them training in data processing which they can carry out within the comforts of their home.
The proposed workshop is intended for specially abled persons who are paralytic. Around twenty-five paraplegic persons with a basic knowledge of computer have been identified in the area.
