Department of English, Al Ameen College, Edathala conducted “Entelechy: Realize the Potential in You”, a journalism fest in the college premises in a befitting manner on March 31st, 2021. It was a one-day program that aimed at realizing the journalist in each student and providing an enriching campus experience for the students who have been isolated at home throughout the year. The events comprised of the best journalist competition “Citizen Journalist”; mobile photography competition “Cupid: Kill with Shots” and treasure hunt “Hunters for Hire”. All the events were incredibly well received by the students and immense response poured out from them.
The official inaugural event took place at the seminar hall, all the students, teachers, and staff members were cordially invited to join the program. The program began at 1:30 PM, it was enlightened by the presence of our beloved Manager, Dr. Junaid Rahman; Dr. Cini Kurian, the Principal; Ms.Aiswarya Pushpakaran, Head of the Department; Mr. Viju P.V, Asst. Prof.,Coordinator, and the guest of honour Mr. Ridhil Harris. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Junaid Rahman, while Dr. Cini Kurian felicitated the gathering.
The department welcomed alumni achiever Mr. Ridhil, who travelled from Kochi to Ladakh as part of the campaign “Fight Cancer: Stay Strong”. He also shared his travel experience and life experience as a cancer survivor. He was acknowledged by the Department of English with a memento as a token of love. The most awaited moment arrived when the awards and certificates were distributed. Bazila Parveen and Fathima Sahala of III BA was awarded First Prize in the Citizen Journalist competition, Hunters for Hire First Prize was shared between Joe Paul and Team of Ist B.T & Shifana and Team of I st Physics, C.S Amaljith of III BSC C.S was awarded First Prize for Cupid: Kill with Shots. The cash prize was handed over to the
winners by the Manager, Dr. Junaid Rahman, and the Principal, Dr. Cini Kurian. Mr. Viju P.V,Asst. Prof. Department of English proposed the vote of thanks. The ceremony closed with thenational anthem. The program was a great success because of the dedication and the sincere efforts made by the faculties and students of the English Department.
