Covid-19 pandemic has changed the nature and functioning of the world. Even in this pandemic situation, the Department of chemistry focussed to continue the learning pedagogy in a useful way. Department of Chemistry, Al- Ameen College, organised a webinar on “The tale of Smart materials towards sustainable and futuristic applications” on 4th July 2020 on Google meet. The aim of the seminar was to create an idea about the smart materials and its applications. Dr. Leji Latheef, HOD of Chemistry department welcomed the gathering. The session was handled by Dr. Sreejith Sankar, Ramanujan Fellow and Assistant Professor (AcSIR), CSIR, NIIST, Thiruvananthapuram on 4th July 2020. The speaker explained about the smart materials, its properties and the concept of smart nanotechnology. This webinar was intended to explore a brief history of smart materials, advancements made in the field as well as the sustainable and futuristic applications of such materials. Around 150 participants including faculty members and students from various institutions across the country participated. Prof. Indu G, Associate Professor of Chemistry proposed her hearty vote of thanks, towards the end of the session.
