Women Empowerment Cell, Al Ameen College, Edathala, in association with Internal Complaint Cell, conducted a webinar on Women Empowerment entitled, “Get Sensitized, Become Empowered” on 24th January 2021, National Girl child day. The session was handled by Dr. Molly Kuruvila, Director and Professor of Centre of Women Studies, University of Calicut. After a formal welcome by Dr. Shaniba M.H, Convener, Women Cell, the speaker began the session by  introducing the students  to the actual status of a ‘girl’ (women in general) in the society. She also gave an enlightening presentation of gender inequality which is infused into the very structure of our patriarchal society and stressed the need for economic independence of women. She reminded girls to make use of constitutional and legal provisions provided to women. Over 150 students joined the webinar through Google meet platform. The webinar ended with a dynamic and meaningful interaction with the students. The session gave them very useful information about how they can pursue their dreams after marriage. They also acquired information on the various aspects of women empowerment, its importance and measures that can be taken to empower girls and women.  Dr. Shalini P, faculty member of Women Cell, proposed the vote of thanks.
