Department of Physics, Al-Ameen College, in association with Sevana Library and Reading room, organized URJA KIRAN 2021-22 energy conservation awareness class at 10:30 AM on Dec 7th, 2021 at the Cooperative Society Hall, Nochima. URJA KIRAN is the flagship programme of Energy Management Centre – Kerala.The objective of the program is to create awareness among the general public and equip them for efficient management of all forms of energy. The theme for this year’s Awareness Campaign by EMC is “Go Electric”

UrjaKiran awareness class began with a formal inauguration ceremony, with Shri Sudheer Meendhrakkal (Chairperson, Permanent Council, Vazhakkulam Block Panchayat) welcoming the gathering. The campaign was inaugurated by Shri Anwar Sadath, MLA, Aluva Constituency. Dr. Cini Kurian, Principal, Al-Ameen College, delivered the Presidential address. Adv.Raija Ameer (Member, ErnakulamDistrict Panchayat), Shri. ShibuPallikkudi( EdathalaPanchayat Member), On the occasion, Smt. SwapnaUnni (Edathala Panchayat Member) and Smt.Seena Martin (President, Kudumbasree, CDS Edathala Panchayat) also addressed the gathering. Dr. S Sreeja, Programme Officer, NSS, Al-Ameen College,Edathala was the resource person of the awareness class. 75 participants, including general public, Kudumbasree members, students and Panchayat members, attended the programme Dr. Sreeja stressed the necessity of moving to renewable energy sources and the need to reduce pollution. She then explained how going electric can help us move ahead on the path of a low carbon economy, thereby saving the country and the planet from the adverse impact of climate change. The students distributed EMC brochures with information on how to reduce the consumption electricity use to the participants and the wider public. The programme concluded with Vote of Thanks proposed by Asst. Prof. Shania Mary Jose, Al-Ameen College.
