Department of biotechnology, in association with Xcellogen Biotech private limited conducted a two days training workshop in plant biotechnology techniques on 23rd and 24th of February 2022. The workshop was organized with the objective of improving the skills in plant biotechnology among students. The workshop was coordinated by Ms. Ramisha Ramesh.

The workshop started at 10. 00 am on 23rd February 2022. The workshop was conducted by Xcellogen Biotech pvt ltd. A life science company based out in Thiruvananthapuram, with a vision to be the technology and knowledge partners for Indian research and biotechnology community. They provided the technical assistance for the students in the workshop. The Xcellogen team members include, Mr. Anooj E S, Ms. Saritha Sadanandan Pillai, Ms. Sana Hussain, Ms. Athira S P, Mr. Mohammed Yasir and Ms. Reshma T Sam. The excellogen team members were successful in providing training for students in Extraction techniques, Phytochemical assay, Thin Layer Chromatography, Column chromatography and Antioxidant assay. The registration fee for the workshop was Rs. 350. The workshop was conducted at the biotechnology and biochemistry laboratories of the department.

The workshop was concluded with an official validatory ceremony on 24th February 2022 at seminar hall at 3.00 pm. The validatory function was inaugurated by the Vice principal Ms. Indu G. The head of the department , Ms Rahimol Ramesh expressed her gratitude towards the Excellogen team members. In the function the Excellogen Managing Director, Mr. Anooj E S signed the Memoradum of understanding with the department of biotechnology.

The workshop was a great success, and received positive feedbacks from the student. Through this workshop, the students were able to develop their on technical skills in different methods used in plant biotechnology.
