Prof. M. B. Sasidharan was not an ordinary teacher to step down from the Principal’s chair in Al-Ameen College. He left behind a sparkling trajectory of personal as well as academic integrity. Prof. Sasidharan was an epitome of empathy. He carved a niche for himself among other academicians with his unique qualities of selfless love and care for his colleagues. To say that all students were his children was not merely an epithet but a truth testified en masse by his old and new pupils.

Prof. Sasidharan started his teaching career in Al-Ameen College 28 years ago. Since then he was to be seen in every activities of the College. Even when an otherwise grand get together of hundreds of students, friends, colleagues and well-wishers turned to be a small gathering of the College teaching, non-teaching and management representatives due to Covid-19 pandemic, all the participants reiterated that working along with him was a pleasure. Many joined the meeting online and extended their wishes for his retirement life.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Junaid Rehman, Manager, Al-Ameen College, Edathala said that Prof. Sasidharan’s intelligence and acumen in academics as well as administration helped him run the College in a hassle-free manner. Jb. Siyad Koker, Chairman, Al-Ameen Educational Trust remembered his journeys to various functions organized by Prof. Sasidharan. Throughout these journeys Koker was surprised to see the huge support Sasidharan enjoyed among the common men. “Sasidharan sir was not a college professor amidst the commons but was one among them”, said Mr. Siyad Koker. Jb. A. K. Mohammed Tahar, Joint Secretary and Academic Counsellor, Al-Ameen Educational Trust, was all the more impressed by Prof. Sasidharan’s unparalleled knowledge of the Vedic texts of Indian tradition. He spoke about the prominence Prof. Sasidharan attributed to Karma in one’s life. “Sasidharan sir was always working, no one could find him idle”, said Mr. Mohammed Tahar. He wished that Prof. Sasidharan will keep the same spirit in his retired life as well. For Jb. Abdul Rahman IPS, Patron, Al-Ameen Educational Trust, Prof. Sasidharan was one of his dear comrades both in politics and in the institution. Jb. K. M. Shamsudheen, Jb. Shafeek K. H., Trustees, Al-Ameen Educational Trust, also wished him a happy and fruitful retired life.

Prof. Sasidharan in his reply speech thanked the College Management and Al-Ameen Educational Trust for giving him an opportunity to serve the student community. He thanked all his colleagues, students, friends and family members for extending unbending support in making his voyage as a teacher, a dynamic political individual and as a social being a successful one. He said that he will continue his social work because sitting idle or living for himself is not his cup of tea. Prof. Sasidharan asked the management and his colleagues to include him in the future charity activities of the College. He also wished every success to his successor Dr. Cini Kurian.

Dr. Cini Kurian, Principal, welcomed the gathering and Mr. Roshan, Office Staff, delivered the vote of thanks. The meeting also witnessed the investiture of the new Principal Dr. Cini Kurian.
