As a part of State Environmental Awareness Campaign 2016-17 “PARISTHITHIKAM Nature club organized training and campaigning on restoring the ecosystem balance by providing eco-friendly cloth bags for reducing the usage of plastic bags under the sponsorship of Government of Kerala through the Department of Environment and Climate Change. We arranged training for cloth bag making on 07-03-2017. We also organized Cycle Rally and awareness programmes in educational institutions as a part of campaigning for an eco-friendly livelihood on 09/03/2017 and also arranged exhibition of product on 14-03-2017 that stitched by students after training. The main objective of this programme is to create mass awareness among students and other target groups about environmental problems of plastic litter and to take measures for environment protection by reducing the consumption of plastic carry bags. Also this training explores an alternative livelihood that can be pursued by poor house wives, as part of women empowerment.

Training on Restoring the Ecosystem Balance by Providing Eco-Friendly Cloth Bags

In this session gives training to girls students from our institution and students from MES college of advanced studies by Sreelatha Suresh and SujathaHari(Karunya Door mat,Pattimattom). About four Kudumbasree members took part in the training programme. Considering increased use of polythene bags and its negative impact on the environment trainers called upon people to shun use of polythene bags and the trainers appealed to the participants to use bags made from cloth in the interest of protecting environment.

Cycle Rally –No Plastic  Save  Earth’

Al –Ameen college nature club organised a cycle rally as a part of state environment awareness campaign (PARISTHITHIKAM) on 9-03-2017 among college students to make them aware of the harmful effects of plastics on the environment and promoting the use of cloth bags. The rally was conducted for the college students of various colleges situated in Aluva.

The rally started from Al-Ameen college campus .college Principal Dr.Anitha Nair flagged off the rally. The students cycled their way up to MES college ,Edathala then reached Bharat Matha college ,Choondy,Aluva.they raised slogans and displayed placards reading ‘ NO PLASTIC,SAVE EARTH’ and so on.

Training for Cloth Bag Making and Exhibition

As part of “Paristhithikam “ project by ministry of culture and environment initiative of Kerala government  , under the patronage of nature club of Al-Ameen College, an exhibition of cloth bags was conducted on 14-03-2017 and it was inaugurated by Dr.Anita Nair principal of Al-Ameen College. The program was organized by Prof. M.V Sasidharan, Prof.Shibinimol, Prof.Neethu P.M, Prof.Priya jiss. The aim of the exhibition is to propagate the need for dumping of the use of plastic and to educate the students about its harmful effect on our mother earth and to spread the use of cloth bags for the regular usage. As part of it, our team visited some houses in an around the college and distributed the student-made cloth bags.
