As part of the World Environment day celebration, the NSS unit, Al Ameen College, took the initiative of creating the Miyawaki forest on the Al Ameen College campus. NSS volunteers planted more fruit tree saplings on the college campus to expand the green cover, by considering the Miyawaki technique of growing dense plantations, pioneered by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki. Its benefits include lowering the temperature, making the soil nutritious, supporting local wildlife and sequestration of carbon.
