‘Fridays for Future’ or FFF, is a global movement that began in August 2018, when 15-year-old Greta Thunberg and other young activists began a school strike for climate. Every school day, for three weeks, they sat outside the Swedish Parliament, demanding urgent action on the climate crisis. On the 8th of September, Greta decided to continue striking every Friday until the Swedish policies provided a safe pathway well under 2° C, i.e. in line with the Paris agreement.
Al-Ameen College Union observed FFF on 27/9/19 in order to awaken the students about the need for limiting global warming and to raise voice against any policies taken by the government which harm our planet. Dr. Sreeja.S, NSS Programme Officer called upon the students to refrain from any activities which harm our environment and to stand united to protect our planet. The students took pledge to stand for earth. Principal Prof. M.B. Sasidharan , Staff Advisor Prof.Shaniba.MH also spoke on the occasion and marked their presence.
