Palliative Care Club, Nature Club, Red Cross and Red Ribbon of Al-Ameen College, Edathala collectively decided to celebrate the New Year day in an innovative manner. Students welcomed the New Year by distributing clothe bags for free in various parts of Ernakulam district. More bags were distributed in Ernakulam General Hospital. The bags were distributed to the winners of a contest regarding anti-plastic campaign conducted by the students. The bags were gifted to those who succeeded in answering the questionnaire. Others were given the bags as consolation prize. Students organised a rally against the use of plastic and urged the community to take a resolution to avoid plastic on New Year. The use of clothe bags were  monitored using a specially prepared data bank. Dr. Asha, Dr. Haneesh Meerasa of General Hospital Ernakulam and Dr. Junaid Rahman,Manager Al-Ameen College, Edathala extended their whole-hearted support to the programme. Dr. Dino Varghese, Dr. SaliniAjith, Dr. Angel C. John, Prof. Deepthi Serin, Prof. Linta and Prof. Alphy Nisa Stephan coordinated the event.
