A light emitting diode (LED) is a device which converts electrical energy into light. It is the newest and the most exciting technological advancement in the lighting industry, which appeared  recently and gained popularity in the market owing to its advantages – high-quality illumination, long life, reduced power consumption.

Post the energy audit of our campus, the scope of replacing the traditional light sources to LEDs, thereby conserving electricity was identified. Hence, the Department of Physics started a program ‘Enlit Al-Ameen’ to replace all the light sources with LED bulbs and tube lights and thereby transforming Al-Ameen to a hundred percent energy efficient campus in the coming years. . Our students successfully assembled the tubes in this academic year and  it was made functional by Vice Principal Prof. Indu G by turining on the tubes on November 5, 2020. All the assembled tubes were handed over to our Manager Dr. Junaid Rahman during the inaugural function of BSc Physics lab, on 8th December, 2020.
