The Nature club, in association with the Department of Biotechnology, Al-Ameen College, conducted a webinar on “Rain water harvesting” on 18 September 2020. The program was conducted as part of our natural resources protection activities with the aim to give awareness to the student community on different ways to preserve rain water for future needs and to meet the increasing demand for water.

The webinar started at 10.30 AM through Google Meet. There were 74 participants in the program, including 48 participants from our college and 26 from different colleges of Kerala. The program started with a silent prayer to the Almighty. The Head of Biotechnology Department, Mrs. Rahimol Ramesh delivered the welcome speech. The Presidential address was delivered by the Principal, Dr.Cini Kurian. During the speech, she spoke about the importance of water harvesting. The resource person for the program was Ms. Resiya Karim, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Bioscience, MESCollege, Marampally. Through the program she emphasized the importance of rain water harvesting to meet the future needs of water. She explained about the various methods of rainwater harvesting with different success models. The webinar was pointed towards a practical solution for water scarcity.

Towards the end of the program, our principal Dr. Cini Kurian declared the winners of first ‘Al-Ameen HarithaMitra Award‘ and announced the Cash prizes, in recognition of their dedication and contribution in implementing nature and biodiversity protection activities during the academic year 2019-2020, organized by the Nature Club and the Biodiversity Club. The winners for the same was Ms. Neema Jose, Ms. Sandra Eldho, Ms .Krishnapriya P A and Ms. Anithra R.  The function came to an end by 11:30 pm, with the program coordinator, Mrs. Alphy Nisa Steaphen (coordinator- Nature club) proposing the vote of thanks.
