The nature club of Al-Ameen College, Edathala organized a Cleanliness Drive under Swach Bharat Abhiyaan Programme on the auspicious occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October 2019. The club members cleared the densely weeded areas in the college premises to prepare a biodiversity garden. Twenty Six students of nature club participated in this program.

The program started at 10.00am with the welcome address of the nature club coordinator Asst. Prof Alphy Nisa Steaphen. The program was inaugurated by the Principal Prof. M B Sasidharan. He spoke about the importance of peace, harmony and nonviolence among people and the role nature and biodiversity plays in achieving these noble goals. He not only paid homage to Gandhiji but also motivated students towards Swachh Bharath Mission. He also mentioned about the importance of sanitation and clean environment.

The members cleaned the college campus and collected the litter for disposal. The drive continued till 1.00 PM, by then the area surrounding shanthisthal and nine planet garden was cleared by the students under the guidance of Asst. Professor Sulfith Salim and the club coordinator. A hibiscus fence was made around the shanthisthal. The programme came to an end with an oath lead by the student coordinator Ms. Neema, regarding cleanliness in home, locality and city.
