NSS volunteers of Al-Ameen College, Edathala had a unique experience when they participated in the AksharaLaksham programme jointly organised by State Literacy Mission and State Public Education Department. More than 40 volunteers conducted a survey in Nochima ward in Edathala panchayat to find out school drop-outs and illiterates among senior citizens. They will be given literacy classes by the NSS unit during the vacation, according to NSS programme officer Prof.Shahanoor Beegum. The programme was attended by ward member Abida Sheriff, college manager Dr M.I. Junaid Rahman and Principal Dr Anita Nair. The survey was co-ordinated by Literacy Mission, Vazhakkulam Block Nodal PrerakM.P. Nithyan. Programme officers Abdul Salam and Shahanoor Begum managed the survey
